Good Wednesday all-
It's quite snowy out there in the majority of western Connecticut, but not snowy in the east. What that means is that delays have been largely confined to Fairfield and New Haven counties...but those areas really need them. Snow is likely to develop through the morning and could be moderate to heavy at times especially between 8 and 3 or so...with as much as 4" not impossible in the heaviest bands. That said...I really am not convinced about that figure...and it wouldn't take much to see lower...or higher...amounts. This is a very fragile forecast, but keep an eye on it! Beyond today, the weekend looks like a close call for Saturday with a major nor'easter...and another one for Tuesday...with a lighter snow event possible for Monday.
Today would have been my grandfather's 89th birthday- I miss him every day and have him in my thoughts on this day!
Today in weather history- February 10, 1973- A major snowstorm manages to drop 18" of snow on Georgia, an extremely rare occurrence, even in the far northern sections. Parts of SC even receive two feet of snow...which is almost certainly the state record.
