Good Wednesday all-
First off, please be careful on the roads as there is black ice out there this morning- there is a SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT for northern CT for just this but it's a problem statewide. Fortunately, precipitation is not exactly likely whatsoever today...or tomorrow...or the weekend. Some showers or flurries are possible Monday.
The real problem, however, lies around the middle to end part of next week, when a major (and I mean major) coastal storm is likely to develop, although exactly where it does is pretty debatable at this time. It's over a week out...so anything is possible from a monster rainstorm to a blizzard. Thus, I cannot do much except note the potential, say "yeah there could be something" and move on. That said...it's pretty alarming when you get a picture like the GFS for Thursday morning.
Today in weather history- February 17, 1958- The northeast is clobbered by a historic blizzard, which drops over 30" of snow on parts of Connecticut and over 3 feet on portions of the mid-Atlantic region. That said...it appears to be a further north version of Blizzard Anna from earlier this year...an option that was on the table for the majority of the week leading up to it.
