3/1- STORM WARNING and STORM WATCH- March starts intriguing

Good Tuesday all-

Today is not the problem, let's make sure we get that out of the way. The highs today will be in the low 40s, but bright sunshine will prevail through most of the day. Tonight, however, clouds roll in and it's going to pour all day tomorrow, which is going to be very unfortunate, as it will be very, very windy and difficult to drive in as the peak of the storm will be perfectly in the morning commute. Lovely! All in all, you can expect 1-3" of rain from this.

The other concern is Friday and Saturday. Although most major computer models take a coastal storm well offshore to the south of Connecticut during this time, one model...the CMC...insists on a fully-fledged blizzard for all of southern New England. The storm, however, does not come onshore until tomorrow morning...so I cannot say with any confidence what will happen until the 12z runs tomorrow. By tomorrow night, I should have a pretty decent idea, but...it remains unclear exactly what will happen. Just be aware.

Today in weather history- March 1, 1910- The deadliest avalanche in US history strikes Washington State, as it sends 3 steam trains into a canyon and buries them- over 100 people are killed in the event.
