Good Tuesday all-
Today is going to be absolutely stunning, with highs in the mid-60s and bright sunshine! Additionally, it just gets better- tomorrow and now Thursday look to both be in the low 70s inland, which would break the records for the dates of March 9 and March 10, an event which I consider highly likely. This Thursday warmth is new today as the backdoor cold front that was expected looks to stall out which, although it's good for Thursday, is very bad for Friday as a stalled cold front means a great deal of rain, and that's what we'll be getting. The odds of getting over an inch of rain are now greater than 25%...so a storm watch has been issued for that timeframe. The real impact will be having to drive at a painfully slow pace in the morning commute, so give yourself that extra 15mins or so to get to work or school to close out your week.
Meanwhile, please enjoy this warmth- I'm sure I will!
Today in weather history- March 8, 1717- On an island in Long Island Sound, 1200 sheep were found to have been buried under four feet of snow for a month by the Great Snows of 1717...but somehow, 100 of them were still alive. I'm not quite sure what allowed that to happen, but my best guess would be that those found an air pocket that allowed a small amount of fresh air in...and also that there was a great deal of grass on the ground for them to graze on!
