12/16- Messy holidays, but nice today

Good Wednesday all-

Today is going to be just fine--actually, it'll be delightful with temps nearly the same as yesterday and bright sunshine featured. Tomorrow will be much the same...but with increasing clouds in the afternoon. Rain will break out statewide tomorrow night and spend early Friday morning, so have that umbrella ready! Although most of the weekend looks dry...it'll be much colder...and sometimes snowy on Saturday most of next week looks wet, including Christmas morning (the latest GFS model run picture is featured below). Additionally, there are strong indications of a big storm on or around the New Years' holiday, but as that's still 2 weeks out...lots can (and will) change between now and then.

Today in weather history- December 16, 1988- Fairbanks, AK somehow records a by far record high temperature of 41...which is some forty-three degrees above their average for December of -2. Additionally, it's accompanied by heavy freezing rain...a total mess in every sense of the word.

As you can see...yikes.
