12/30- Chilly, Icy morning

Good Wednesday all-

Today is going to be a relatively chilly day, especially compared to what we've been experiencing for much of December, as temps will be in the mid-40s, but fortunately sunshine is likely for much of the day today...well actually, much of the day for much of the next week, since there is no serious storms in sight at all. There are only two minor exceptions with this- tomorrow morning (when a sustained light rain will fall for a few hours) and Saturday (with a flurry or two around). The next threat for a truly major winter storm appears to not come until on or around 1/9...but that's way out there, so plenty can change. I'll be watching that one really closely though as I have a flight to New Orleans early in the morning on 1/9...so if there's a major storm on that day...that could be a real problem for me.

Today in weather history- December 30, 1933- The coldest morning in the history of New England prominently effects the Green and White Mountains, as Bloomfield, VT records a reading of -50!! Can you imagine what that would be like?

For those going to Times Square for the ball drop tomorrow night, the weather looks fine...but bring a warm jacket!
