Good Tuesday all-
Today is going to be absolutely miserable, as it's going to rain on and off all day. Fortuantely, the temperatures in the mid to upper 50s should ease the pain at least somewhat but...I think we'd all prefer dry weather (unless you are a meteorologist or weather geek :) ) In any event, that dry weather comes tomorrow, but Christmas Eve looks interesting because of A- record CRUSHING temps (Dare I say that I am sniffing around weather I want to say temps will be seventy?) but B- RAIN, as it's going to be a rather warm and wet day. Fortunately, it all dries out for Christmas, but temps will still be warm.
Beyond Christmas, however, lies our true winter weather, as our warmth is about to come to a conclusion when a cold front moves through on Sunday. By Tuesday, we could be looking at a wintry mix changing to rain...and potentially even a flat out snowstorm on or around New Years Day.
The next chance for 3+" of snow is- I guess technically Tuesday (5-10%) but I'd be more inclined to believe it will be New Years' (20%)
Tuesday morning. As you can see, there is mixing going on in Connecticut. It's flopped around several times in the last several days.
January 2nd in the afternoon- that's far too close for comfort especially 8-9 days out. Still watching closely
Today in weather history- December 22, 1987- An otherwise tranquil winter solstice does yield a
remarkable achievement however, as Burley, ID, manages to receive a whopping 40" of snow, the record for a single storm at that location. Of course, Connecticut's record is also 40" set along the I-91 corridor on 2/8-9/2013.
